The Research and Development Team requires an Intermediate/Senior Software Engineer.
Precidia Technologies designs integrated payment solutions, working with other leaders in the Point of Sale industry. Our products work with or run on routers, proprietary and open-source POS systems on Windows and Linux, smart phones, PDAs, dial payment terminals and wireless terminals that handle credit/gift/debit card payments in restaurant and retail environments.
We are looking for a candidate that can work with our team in an exciting, challenging role and help improve our product offering, and help make our customers successful using our products.

Duties and Responsibilities |
- Implement support for protocols to allow our devices to communicate with various credit hosts and with various Electronic Cash Register and Point of Sale systems.
- Port our software or portions of our software to new devices and servers, including Linux servers, new customer facing touch screen devices and handheld devices such as the iPhone.
- POS application integration - connecting Precidia's software to cash registers.
- Become familiar with fundamentals of the payment industry, in the US and Canadian markets.
- Learn and contribute to the product designs, class libraries, and collection of specifications and team knowledge to move the products forward.
- Work closely with Certification group in host processor approvals testing.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities |
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science
- 3-7 years experience with C/C++
- 1-5 years experience PHP, SQL(MySQL/Oracle), Javascript
- Extensive experience using Linux as an application and development environment
- Knowledge of hardware design and embedded software development
- Knowledge of the Linux kernel and experience developing device drivers on Linux
- Knowledge of Security issues and practices, and experience with SSL, SSH, PKI, PCI etc.
- Familiarity with network protocols: particularly TCP/IP, UDP, SSL, SOAP
- Familiarity with version control systems like CVS
- Java programming experience is an asset
- Familiarity with Point of Sales Interfaces and Payment functions is an asset
- Experience developing on other platforms (such as Windows, Windows CE, iPhone) is an asset
- Experience designing and implementing features around licensed software
- Ability to interact with product management, operations and other software designers
- Exceptional planning and organization skills
- Demonstrate self sufficiency and problem solving with minimal direction
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently, but also contribute and work with the team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
