Intermediate/Senior Software Engineer

 

Job Summary

The Research and Development Team requires an Intermediate/Senior Software Engineer.

Precidia Technologies designs integrated payment solutions, working with other leaders in the Point of Sale industry. Our products work with or run on routers, proprietary and open-source POS systems on Windows and Linux, smart phones, PDAs, dial payment terminals and wireless terminals that handle credit/gift/debit card payments in restaurant and retail environments.

We are looking for a candidate that can work with our team in an exciting, challenging role and help improve our product offering, and help make our customers successful using our products.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement support for protocols to allow our devices to communicate with various credit hosts and with various Electronic Cash Register and Point of Sale systems.
  • Port our software or portions of our software to new devices and servers, including Linux servers, new customer facing touch screen devices and handheld devices such as the iPhone.
  • POS application integration - connecting Precidia's software to cash registers.
  • Become familiar with fundamentals of the payment industry, in the US and Canadian markets.
  • Learn and contribute to the product designs, class libraries, and collection of specifications and team knowledge to move the products forward.
  • Work closely with Certification group in host processor approvals testing.
 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • 3-7 years experience with C/C++
  • 1-5 years experience PHP, SQL(MySQL/Oracle), Javascript
  • Extensive experience using Linux as an application and development environment
  • Knowledge of hardware design and embedded software development
  • Knowledge of the Linux kernel and experience developing device drivers on Linux
  • Knowledge of Security issues and practices, and experience with SSL, SSH, PKI, PCI etc.
  • Familiarity with network protocols: particularly TCP/IP, UDP, SSL, SOAP
  • Familiarity with version control systems like CVS
  • Java programming experience is an asset
  • Familiarity with Point of Sales Interfaces and Payment functions is an asset
  • Experience developing on other platforms (such as Windows, Windows CE, iPhone) is an asset
  • Experience designing and implementing features around licensed software
  • Ability to interact with product management, operations and other software designers
  • Exceptional planning and organization skills
  • Demonstrate self sufficiency and problem solving with minimal direction
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently, but also contribute and work with the team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
