Ottawa, Canada, September 16th, 2002 - Precidia Technologies Inc. and InComm announced today a strategic partnership to offer U.S. merchants a complete, cost-effective IP-based solution for point-of-sale activated (POSA) prepaid wireless airtime cards.

InComm is the first transaction processor in the U.S. to offer this advanced solution that moves card data from Point of Sale (POS) serial terminals to more advanced IP infrastructure to better serve its customers needs. Using Precidia’s Internet Protocol (IP) access devices, InComm is able to connect merchants’ terminals to a LAN/WAN using TCP/IP, improving transaction times by 50 percent and reducing costs by eliminating the need to use other networks.

InComm recently introduced Precidia’s Ether232s into Valero/Ultramar Diamond Shamrock locations. They plan to promote and implement the solution into other convenience stores over the next several months. "The Ether232 is the ideal solution for integrating serial-based terminals onto a frame relay network. It provides real added value to our customers, improving their transaction times, decreasing their costs, while allowing them to maintain their investment in their serial equipment,” said David Etling, Sales Engineer for InComm. “It is very easy to install and improves our ability to manage the transaction.”
