Ottawa, Canada, May 5th, 2008 - Precidia Technologies Inc., a global leader in the design and manufacture of Internet Protocol (IP) payment and networking software and devices, announced today that it has concluded an agreement with Chase Paymentech to supply the iPOS™ as part of the processor's managed VPN payment solution for petroleum and convenience stores. Chase Paymentech has selected the iPOS to provide serial to ethernet connectivity from VeriFone Ruby™ terminals to broadband ISPs. The iPOS is a derivative of the popular iPocket232™ adapter with customized payment software. It delivers a cost effective means of achieving fast and secure transactions on a private broadband network.
The iPOS is the ideal broadband VPN transaction processing solution for petroleum and convenience store retailers using Ruby™ terminals, who wish to reduce typical capital and operating expenses associated with frame relay, VSAT networks, or slower dial services. By connecting this low cost, single port product to the Ruby™ terminal, merchants can achieve all the benefits of broadband, without the costs. These benefits include transactions as much as 50% faster, the cost savings associated with eliminating dedicated dial lines, and access to Chase Paymentech managed remote monitoring and support services powered by the NetVu management server.
"The iPOS plays a key role in our new payment offering to petroleum and convenience stores", said Jennifer Stout, Senior Vice President of Product Management at Chase Paymentech. "We are seeing a distinct trend and strong demand for support of broadband services in the convenience store marketplace. Some convenience stores have an existing IP connection, but can't currently maximize broadband services to process transactions. This simple adapter allows merchants to cost effectively move off of a dial, frame or VSAT payment processing infrastructure, and onto a broadband VPN managed solution".
Precidia President Deepak Wanner calls Chase Paymentech a key partner for Precidia, and stresses the importance of this packaged solution for convenience stores: "We know that in the c-store's high volume environment, even a small reduction in transaction times can have a significant impact on business", said Mr. Wanner. "The iPOS is the c-store merchant's best tool to speed transactions without costly equipment upgrades".
