Ottawa, Canada, October 19, 2009 - Precidia Technologies Inc., a global leader in the design and manufacture of Internet Protocol (IP) payment and networking products, announced today continued reduced pricing for its IP migration packages for Canadian businesses running out of time to meet the December 2009, phase-out of Datapac 3201 service. This x.25 based telecommunications service is used for credit, debit and ATM transactions in Canada, but has been on a phase-out path that will culminate in a December 2009 obsolescence. The approaching deadline has many Canadian businesses and government organizations searching for a replacement solution.
Working with major Canadian transaction processors, Precidia is seeing a significant increase in volume from Canadian businesses requiring a fast, easy solution to replace their current Datapac processing infrastructure. Many of these organizations are not traditional retailers, but rather businesses and government organizations who accept payment for goods or services, such as hospitals, government offices, airports and entertainment venues. "These organizations are struggling to find a replacement solution for Datapac, so that they can continue to process payments", said Precidia President Deepak Wanner. "Since payment processing is not their core business, they need help to put a solution in place that will meet their needs today and in the future. We're pleased to extend our 30% price reduction to these Canadian businesses".
Precidia's Datapac replacement solution features a sophisticated Datapac3201 to IP adapter that connects to existing systems, converting the legacy transaction data to be carried over a private or public IP network This popular solution allows retailers to avoid the cost of replacing POS systems and equipment, while they enjoy the benefits of IP-based transaction processing. Processing transactions over a public or private IP network offers a significant cost reduction for Canadian retailers, as the cost of Datapac has increased annually and is now prohibitive for most retailers. Retailers can now use low cost broadband IP, which in many cases is already in place. From an operational perspective, IP-based transaction processing is superior, offering dramatically faster transactions and enhanced manageability.
