Ottawa, Canada, December 5, 2000 - Precidia Technologies Inc. announced today a strategic partnership with Tender Retail Systems to provide Point-of-Sale (POS) retailers with a complete, cost effective IP (Internet Protocol) payment processing solution.
Using Precidia's Ether232 protocol converters, Tender Retail is able to Internet enable debit and credit transactions which are processed using their CreditCheq payment processing software. The solution is currently implemented in Long & McQuade Music Stores across Canada, and will be implemented in other large retail environments in the coming months. According to Long & McQuade President & CEO Steve Long, "This combined solution is the best possible response to the challenge of integrating debit/credit into older Cash Register systems, allowing us to maintain our investment in legacy equipment, while upgrading to a modern, efficient payment processing system. This implementation demonstrates the commitment of Long & McQuade to providing the best possible payment solutions for our customers."
Precidia President Deepak Wanner welcomes the opportunity to work with Tender Retail and their merchant customers: " Working together with Tender Retail, we have successfully brought IP to the countertop, while retaining the existing Cash register system, providing integrated services through an overlay IP network to each lane. This is the first implementation of its kind in Canada and we believe it will be a model replicated throughout North America. This is the next generation of POS payment solutions; the first step was bringing IP to the store, and now we are taking IP to the countertop. By working with systems integrators like Tender Retail, we can provide the infrastructure, while they can provide the new services."
"For Tender Retail, partnering with Precidia Technologies has provided the 'missing link' in a complete service offering for older POS systems. Retailers have been pleased with the efficiency of the CreditCheq payment processing solution, but the challenge of integrating debit/credit had become an issue for those with older cash register systems. With Precidia's solution, we have responded to that need, allowing them to benefit from the cost savings and efficiency offered by our software and Precidia's Internet enabling technology", said Steve Brook, President of Tender Retail Systems.
