Ottawa, Canada, July 20, 2006 - Precidia Technologies Inc., a global leader in the design and manufacture of Internet Protocol (IP) access devices, introduced today a unique new card acceptance solution for electronic cash registers (ECRs). Debuting at next week's RSPA EXPOtech, the POSLynx220 with NetVu puts control of the end device in the hands of resellers and merchants, while speeding transactions and eliminating telephone and vendor service fees.
Designed for small and medium retail businesses that depend on ECRs, the POSLynx220 with NetVu is a multi-port payment router which can connect an ECR of almost any manufacture, along with peripherals such as printers, barcode scanners, contactless smart cards and biometrics, to a broadband IP network for faster, more cost effective transactions.
Easily deployed and managed, this solution is differentiated from existing options by several key features. First, the device can route to multiple hosts based on card type, via Ethernet or dial. This allows for greater competition amongst processors, and better pricing for merchants. Second, the device is managed and configured by the reseller. This frees the merchant from excessive maintenance costs, facilitates fast and cost effective upgrades, and gives resellers tools to better support merchants. Finally, the POSLynx220 is designed to accommodate peripherals of any type, including biometrics.
Dealer Jerry Logan of Broomfield Colorado, who already has an ECR customer using the POSLynx220, believes this new solution has the potential to change the way resellers do business: "Precidia's solution goes above and beyond simply integrating card acceptance. With the POSLynx220, we can remotely view the merchant's store and network activity, allowing us to be even more proactive in offering support, message format changes, settlement assistance. Precidia understands the requirements of merchants in the ECR industry, and has designed a product that reduces their costs and enhances support. The solution is ideal for resellers and merchants searching for an 'all in one box' solution to integrate card acceptance, ECRs and peripherals on a broadband IP network", said Mr. Logan.
Deepak Wanner, president of Precidia Technologies, believes this offering marks a period of evolution within the payments industry. "Until now, card acceptance for ECR merchants has been cumbersome and costly. There is demand within this industry for a simple 'one box' IP solution that offers greater flexibility in terms of processor choice, change management and technical support. We're pleased to lead this shift in the industry landscape", said Mr. Wanner
