E-Z Mart Chooses Precidia for Fast, Cost Effective Transactions and Monitoring

Leading convenience chain leverages Precidia adapter for fast transactions, better monitoring.

Ottawa, Canada, May 1, 2008 - Precidia Technologies Inc., a global leader in the design and manufacture of Internet Protocol (IP) payment and networking products, announced today that E-Z Mart Stores, Inc., a convenience store and petroleum retailer with more than 300 stores spread throughout Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, has chosen its iPocket232 serial IP adapter to connect Ruby™ terminals and fuel tank monitoring devices to a broadband MPLS network from Cybera. This move has resulted in faster, more cost effective transaction processing for E-Z Mart as well as simplified fuel inventory management.

Previously relying on costly and slow dial-up lines to process transactions in its unbranded stores, E-Z Mart gained faster transactions at a lower cost by switching to Cybera's fully managed, PCI compliant SmartNetwork. Precidia's iPocket232 provided a critical piece in helping E-Z Mart realize immediate return on investment - connecting the legacy Ruby™ payment terminal to the broadband network, with direct connections to several transaction processors. This low cost, compact adapter provides the missing link in many similar convenience store network migration strategies.

"Compared to other available options, the iPocket232 was the most cost effective route to fully networked payments", said Tom Withem, Information Resources Manager at E-Z Mart. "The iPocket232 completed the network offering, ensuring that the benefits of broadband were realized at the point-of-sale, with faster transactions. In addition, we leveraged the technology to network Automatic Tank Gauge (ATG) controllers, eliminating telephone lines and onsite visits by technicians to troubleshoot and monitor fuel inventory levels".

Precidia President Deepak Wanner noted that at under $100, the iPocket232 is a cost effective alternative to newer, broadband enabled payment terminals. "For many c-stores, this payment option justifies the cost of broadband network access. The ability to network other store equipment such as tank monitors, money order machines and video surveillance systems offers incremental benefit to the store".

Precidia's c-store products also include the POSLynx220, which can connect 2 dial and 2 serial devices to broadband simultaneously, ideal for stores with dial equipment such as ATMs. For more information on Precidia's convenience store solutions, visit www.precidia.com/solutions/pc/
