Precidia Technologies joins Mitel Networks Third-Party Provider Network Mitel Networks channels now have access to Ether232 to solve common PBX communications challenges

Ottawa, Ontario, April 15, 2003 - Precidia Technologies Inc., a leader in the design and manufacture of IP enabling technologies, announced today that it has been accepted into the MiSolutions Network (MiSN), Mitel Networks third party provider program. Precidia provides Mitel Networks distributors and resellers with a solution to connect serial Mitel Networks PBX equipment to IP networks, and adds significant new functionality to existing PBX systems.

Connecting a PBX to an organization's LAN/WAN facilitates real-time remote monitoring, which delivers significant return on investment with the elimination of costly onsite maintenance visits. Using the Precidia Ether232 access device, users can IP enable an existing serial PBX by connecting via its RS232 port to the Precidia device, which then connects to an IP network, usually an existing LAN/WAN.

The Ether232Plus also responds to another common challenge: the need for additional serial ports on a PBX. The device can connect to the Ethernet interface of a Mitel Networks' PBX, leaving the Precidia device's RS232 port available for CRM or other programs. With the number of administrative activities carried out exhausting the communication ports available on most PBX systems, the addition of another RS232 port extends the service life of PBX equipment.

"Businesses live the challenge of finding new ways to integrate disparate communications systems and streamline operational costs," said Ray Brown, Vice President, Enterprise Solutions, Mitel Networks. "Precidia's membership in MiSN provides an additional resource for companies to enhance the management and integration process of traditional PBX's across the LAN/WAN environment."

Precidia president Deepak Wanner welcomes the opportunity to leverage Precidia's unique technology to enhance Mitel Networks' PBX equipment. "The MiSolutions Network is an important resource for Mitel Networks' distributors and resellers, who are searching for ways to improve their solution portfolio. The Ether232 provides powerful IP enabling features to older PBX systems, arming Mitel Networks' resellers and distributors with a tool to provide additional competitive advantage", said Mr. Wanner.

This solution has been successfully deployed by Hotel Telephone Maintenance (HTM) Ltd, a UK based telecom service provider for the hotel industry. "Our customers require simple, reliable and easily installed products", said Mike Vann, Technical Director of HTM Ltd. "Precidia's Ether232 allowed us to connect the customer's Mitel Networks 3300 Integrated Communications Platform to the Hotel's Call Management Solution using the PBX's telnet port. With no on site support, the hotel's PBX can now be monitored remotely by contract staff, saving HTM Ltd thousands of dollars in resource costs and staff time. The Ether232 met our customer's challenge, installing easily and performing well".
