Ottawa, Canada, November 13, 2000 - Leading companies join forces to bring the Datapac replacement service offering to retailers and financial institutions. Precidia Technologies Inc. today announced a strategic alliance with Sprint Canada Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Call-Net Enterprises Inc. (TSE: CN and CN.B; NASDAQ: CNEBF), to offer an IP migration strategy to point-of-sale (POS) retailers in Canada.
Using Precidia's advanced IP enabling technology and Sprint Canada Inc.'s national virtual private network (VPN), the two companies will provide small and large retailers and their financial institutions with a complete IP enabled service offering. The Ether3201 and IP3201 Datapac to IP Protocol Converters allow retailers to migrate debit and credit traffic onto one IP enabled network, with Sprint Canada's national VPN.
"Precidia's partnership with Sprint Canada," explains Deepak Wanner, President of Precidia Technologies, "allows us to reach our end customers with a complete, seamless and cost-effective POS payment solution. We know these retailers are excited about the opportunity to move to an IP network, particularly with Sprint Canada's reputation for excellence in integrated communications solutions. We are excited about this service offering, and the opportunity to work with Sprint Canada."
"This alliance allows Sprint Canada to strengthen its service offering to retailers and banking institutions," commented Robert Treumann, Vice President Enterprise Sales and Marketing, Sprint Canada Inc., "while minimizing any changes to the existing network infrastructure. Precidia's Ether3201 and IP3201 products are some of the best solutions for our retail and banking customers, providing speed, network management capabilities and dramatic cost savings unparalleled in today's POS marketplace. We are pleased to have a leading IP enabling solutions provider as a Sprint Canada partner".
