Ottawa, Canada, May 8th, 2008 - Precidia Technologies Inc., a global leader in the design and manufacture of Internet Protocol (IP) payment and networking software and devices, announced today that Visa has validated the POSLynx220™ v.2.09 with TransNet™ payment engine as meeting their Payment Application Best Practices (PABP). Today's announcement demonstrates Precidia's commitment to the integrity of cardholder data when using its payment engine on a router. For processors and application developers, PABP validation inspires confidence in TransNet, while also helping merchants meet Visa's Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS).
The POSLynx220 with TransNet is an IP-based payment solution that integrates payments with existing POS equipment such as PCs, terminals and cash registers to deliver fast, cost-effective, secure and easily managed transaction processing. Merchants concerned with meeting PCI DSS requirements can take advantage of TransNet's 'hands off' approach to PCI, with default settings that ensure compliance with no effort on the part of the merchant. To ensure ongoing compliance, TransNet also delivers automatic PCI updates as new threats emerge, making it a simple security solution for busy merchants.
PABP is Visa's cardholder data security standard for payment applications, the companion to Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), which governs merchant card processing activities. In response to research indicating that vulnerable payment applications are a leading cause of cardholder data compromise incidents, the PCI Data Security Council recently announced the new Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS), which more closely links PCI DSS to payment application data security, ensuring more consistent security measures for the entire payment processing system.
"PABP has never been more critical", said Robert Kantor, Software Solutions' Director of Compliance of ParTech, Inc. "Software vendors have been paying close attention to PABP for some time now. We are seeing PABP become very important, with the PA-DSS industry standard recently announced for every player in the retail payments industry, including the merchant. Precidia's POSLynx220™ v.2.09 with TransNet™ payment engine offers a range of payment features and capabilities and can assist merchants in the security of cardholder data".
Precidia president Deepak Wanner says the company is committed to making cardholder security easy: "PABP compliance can seem daunting to application developers and processors, just as PCI has seemed confusing to merchants", said Mr. Wanner. "Our message to partners and customers is to choose solutions that take the guesswork out of compliance. The POSLynx220 with TransNet is designed to do just that, with built-in PABP compliance and hassle-free PCI compliance management".
