Ottawa, Canada, Oct. 12, 04 - Precidia Technologies, a leading provider of Internet Protocol (IP) access devices, today announced the Class B certification of its POSLynx retail router for Paymentech's NetConnect, a secure, direct Internet connection to its card authorization center. With the first commercial release of the POSLynx now available, merchants can easily connect dial-based terminals to the Internet over DSL or other broadband networks for faster, more cost-effective payment transaction processing.
Converting up to four point-of-sale terminals to IP using SSL, the POSLynx helps small to mid-size merchants reduce communication costs by eliminating the need for dedicated dial lines. With no changes required to terminal applications, implementation of the POSLynx is quick and painless; merchants are up and running immediately without additional expense or training. Furthermore, this low/no maintenance device features built-in reliability via dial back-up.
"Precidia understands the need for an easy migration path to fast, secure Internet transaction processing," said George White, Paymentech COO. "With the POSLynx, they've developed a simple IP option that enables merchants to retain existing point-of-sale terminals while benefiting from the speed and security inherent in NetConnect."
"In bringing the POSLynx to market, we've developed a product tailored to the needs of the point-of-sale market that offers tremendous value for merchants and ISOs alike," explains Precidia president Deepak Wanner. "Merchants can experience faster, cheaper Internet-based transaction processing in a single step for an unbeatable cost while ISOs will appreciate the ease of installation and opportunity for increased residuals."
