Ottawa, Canada, April 18, 2006 - Precidia Technologies Inc., a global leader in the design and manufacture of Internet Protocol (IP) access devices, today announced Class B certification of its POSLynx220 with NetVu™ by RBS Lynk, a leading processor of point-of-sale and ATM electronic payment transactions. This certification will allow RBS Lynk's retail and restaurant merchants to process faster, more cost effective transactions over an IP network using their existing dial based terminals.
The POSLynx220 retail router connects 2 dial payment terminals or ATMs simultaneously to a broadband frame, DSL or satellite IP network, eliminating a dedicated telephone line to process transactions. In addition, the POSLynx220 features 2 serial ports for incremental devices such as check readers or PC cash registers. Featuring SSL encryption and dial back up for enhanced reliability, the POSLynx220 dramatically reduces transaction authorization times from an average of 12 seconds, to under 5 seconds in many cases.
The second largest ATM processor in the United States, RBS Lynk can now offer a 'one box' solution to restaurants and convenience stores that have an on-premise ATM in addition to payment terminals or PC cash registers. All of these devices can be connected to the multiport POSLynx220, for seamless internet-based processing and network accessibility.
"Our customers have dial based terminals and ATMs, and recognize the benefits of migrating to IP: eliminating telephone lines, and speeding transactions", said Melanie Chewning, senior vice president, ATM Division for RBS Lynk. "Precidia's POSLynx220 is a unique alternative to equipment upgrade and replacement. It delivers value added features our customers appreciate, such as automatic dial back up, split dial and solid security."
Deepak Wanner, president of Precidia Technologies, believes that RBS Lynk is an ideal partner for the POSLynx220. "ATMs and dial terminals are the core market for this product. Merchants with these devices, and any incremental serial equipment, stand to gain the most value from the POSLynx220", said Mr. Wanner. "RBS Lynk serves this market with leading edge processing solutions. We're pleased to be delivering this critical part of their solution."
The POSLynx220 also features NetVu, a network configuration manager that streamlines deployment and provides valuable ongoing diagnostic data to network administrators and help desks. Together with onboard PCI compliance automation, NetVu has been designed to assist merchants and their providers in the management of their network devices.
