TNS Teams with Precidia for IP Migration

Relationship brings comprehensive network migration and management package to merchants.

March 30, 2006 - Precidia Technologies Inc., a global leader in IP enabling technologies, together with Transaction Network Services Inc. (TNS) (NYSE:TNS), announced an agreement today that incorporates Precidia’s proven protocol conversion and network management technology with the TNS FusionPoint Express managed merchant internet gateway offering. FusionPoint Express provides a managed, secure path for legacy dial and serial point-of-sale (POS) devices over TNS or customer-provided IP networks to major card processors worldwide, reducing the cost, complexity and duration of POS communications over IP.

Precidia’s IP access products, which feature the NetVu network configuration management tool suite, deliver a simple, cost effective and actively managed IP migration path for POS equipment. The company’s wide range of multi and single port products connect existing dial or serial equipment such as sync/async payment terminals, ATMs, PC cash registers, bar code scanners and check readers to broadband IP networks. Precidia customized its access devices and management system to support TNS’s monitoring and authentication requirements, providing a range of powerful new deployment, diagnostic, and transaction routing capabilities.

“Precidia’s solution delivers a critical piece in TNS’ drive to offer ‘end-to-end’ services to merchants”, said Scott English, Vice President, Engineering, TNS. “This technology meets the growing demand for IP conversion at the point-of-sale, without the costs associated with equipment replacement.”

Precidia’s President, Deepak Wanner asserts this relationship will bring heightened awareness of IP migration alternatives to merchants. “With more than 11 million payment terminals in the US alone, we know there is significant demand for a low cost IP migration strategy”, said Mr. Wanner. “Teaming with TNS allows those merchants to easily move to IP based processing, with the TNS managing the internet gateway solution and the IP conversion endpoints. We’re confident that these merchants will appreciate the simplicity and cost savings of this solution. With industry recognized expertise, and the respect of merchants and ISOs, TNS is an ideal partner for Precidia.”
