Turning Discontinuation of Datapac into an Opportunity for Retailers |
Challenge
Datapac 3201 service is being phased out by Canadian telecom vendors, with an end-of-life date scheduled for December 2009. Do you have a migration plan? At the same time, the EMV (chip card) standard is growing, with mandatory compliance expected in 2010. With Datapac discontinued and EMV transactions only possible on an IP-based infrastructure, the time is now for Canadian retailers and businesses accepting credit/debit card payments to migrate onto broadband IP payment systems. Precidia's sophisticated adapters connect to existing POS equipment and ATMs and can be implemented quickly and easily. In addition, you'll achieve faster, lower cost transactions that can make a significant impact on your business.

Solution
Precidia's solutions feature a protocol conversion adapter, which connects an existing dial or serial based POS device or ATM to an IP network via Ethernet. These devices can connect almost any dial-based payment device to a DSL, frame or cable IP network. By routing them over an IP network, transactions are dramatically faster than dial, and the retailer eliminates the cost of a dedicated dial line. With Datapac service costs climbing over the years, most retailers will see an immediate return on investment. Recognizing the importance of securing cardholder data, Precidia offers solutions for private and public network connectivity, and can position retailers for EMV compliant transactions.

Public Network Solution
The iPocket (with the 3201 load), together with POSLynx220 multiport payment router drive this solution, which can work with payment terminals or ATMs. The iPocket232 converts RS232 data to IP while the POSLynx220 ensures the integrity of financial data with SSL encryption and a fully compliant design. The POSLynx220 features 2 dial and 2 serial ports, allowing for the integration of additional store equipment on the same IP network. Precidia's most feature-rich product, the POSLynx220 also delivers dial back up in case of host failure, and routing to multiple destinations by card type. This solution is ideal for all types of payment terminals, as well as ATMs.

| Customer Testimonial |
| "Precidia's solution has allowed Chapters to realize substantial cost savings. By bringing our transactions onto one IP network, we have eliminated the need for a separate data line. The solution is transparent to our existing network, and not only performed smoothly in the first months after installation, but continued to operate flawlessly in the peak retail months of November and December." |
