Challenge
|
| Between 40-50% of the more than 600,000 IBM iSeries AS/400 installed globally in a distribution or manufacturing environment. Traditionally, disparate industry systems have either been hardwired or not connected at all to the AS/400, limiting the potential for automation and remote monitoring or maintenance. |
Solution
|
| Precidia's Remote Access devices respond to this challenge by connecting serial devices such as scales, control systems and conveyor devices to an AS/400 using an existing LAN/WAN backbone. This solution transparently tunnels RS232, RS422 or RS485 data to the host AS/400 via Ethernet. |
| The feature rich iPocket232 and Ether232Plus offer a series of remote administration options, including monitoring via a web browser, configuration using a Telnet client, and scheduled downloads during system downtime. As well, these devices simplify the infrastructure with reduced cabling requirements. |
