Reliable, cost effective legacy/IP integration and network management.

Precidia's serial networking products provide a cost-effective, reliable tool to IT staff in the management and networking of serial devices and applications. You can manage cameras in remote broadcasting locations, link IP PBXs with serial-based property management systems or gain access to alarm systems using wireless phones. Precidia serial/IP adapters help improve operations by eliminating the need for modems or dedicated PCs and enabling enterprise and remote data sharing.

Dots Solutions

Serial/IP Device and Application Integration
Featuring serial and Ethernet ports, Precidia's products can connect legacy devices to an Ethernet network for simplified remote access, monitoring and management. Conversely, these adapters can also integrate serial based applications with IP devices. This approach reduces capital and support costs, and simplifies the IT manager's job.

Network Monitoring
Often used in mission-critical environments such as utilities, the iPocket232™ can be placed securely behind a firewall. By sending heartbeats out to its NetVu™ management server at regular intervals, power outages and network failures can be detected and remedied quickly. In this application, the iPocket232 can be used as a network monitoring agent, alerting staff via an SMS message or email. The iPocket232 is a fraction of the cost of available network monitoring agents.

Secure Remote Access to a Networked Device
The EtherCell™ gateway device facilitates secure external access to a networked device via PPP dial-in from a modem or cellular handset, for reset or other maintenance tasks. This capability allows network administrators to reach equipment that is not accessible using dial modems. The EtherCell can set up or receive a PPP connection via its RS232 port, using a cellular or analog modem, while its Ethernet port connects to the required device to provide access from outside the network. To ensure network security is not compromised, the EtherCell sets up a DMZ, communicating only with the connected device, firewalling the rest of the network.

Customer Testimonial
"The iPocket232 is a great little device, saving me the time and trouble of swapping out equipment, allowing me to change the IP address of failed units remotely instead. The best part is that I didn't have to schedule any downtime. The iPocket232 is easy to use and works well".
