PBX/Application integration

Networking PBXs with legacy applications

Dots Challenge

As IP PBX systems grow in popularity, a common challenge has emerged for IT staff: integrating critical legacy-based applications such as SMDR and Property Management Systems with IP PBX. With no serial ports available on the IP PBX, Precidia has the solution, low cost adaptors that add a serial port to the pbx.

Dots Solution

Precidia's adaptors connect serial applications to an IP network. Featuring both an Ethernet and serial port, products such as the iPocket232 can connect legacy applications to an enterprise network. Easy to use and cost effective, Precidia's products include the Ether232Plus, Ether232Duo, and EtherCell. The iPocket232 provides a simple and cost-effective serial interface to the PBX.
Simple integration
Precidia serial/Ethernet adapters enable operators such as hoteliers to take advantage of the additional functionality of IP PBXs without any integration concerns. The iPocket232 act as a simple data pass-through that enables bidirectional communication between the PBX and other applications. Furthermore, by connecting serial-based equipment to a LAN/WAN, you can overcome the distance limitations of RS232 cabling requirements and facilitates a simplified, less-costly cabling structure.
For use with PBXs from all manufacturers including Mitel, NEC, Nortel and Avaya, this simple 'plug and play' solution maximizes the use of data and enhances operational efficiency. For simple deployment and enhanced management of PBX systems, Precidia also offers the NetVu™ management server. This tool suite is designed to streamline deployment and support with alerts, remote application download and monitoring.

Dots How it Works

The Precidia device has an Ethernet port and one or more RS232 ports, allowing it to deliver three distinct solutions for PBX users.
Connecting serial equipment to a Mitel IP PBX
By connecting the iPocket232, Ether232Duo or Ether232Plus to one of the PBX's Ethernet interfaces, the RS232 ports on the Precidia device becomes available for a PMS or other activities that require a serial interface.

Dots Benefits

  • Easy integration with existing PBX equipment
  • Quick and simple deployment and management
  • Cost savings associated with retention of legacy applications
Customer Testimonial
