Restaurants, equipment vendors and processors can take advantage of the TransNet™ solution to improve the way payments are managed. TransNet is a payment engine application that is housed on a secure router, provided by Precidia or Cisco (Application eXtension Platform). When integrated with a PC-based Hospitality System, it seamlessly performs the payment function in the background. A truly flexible solution, TransNet can display an existing payment interface on the system's screen, or Precidia's Virtual Terminal (VT) interface.
TransNet removes responsibility for cardholder data security from the restaurateur, allowing these merchants to focus on their core business. It does this with several key features. First, TransNet has default settings for operations (such as password protection) that respond directly to the 12 PCI DSS requirements. These default settings cannot be 'broken' by the user, ensuring that the restaurant is always compliant. Second, the design of the TransNet solution is inherently more secure, in that the payment application is actually housed on a secure router, rather than the PC system itself. This shelters the payment function from hackers and viruses. Finally, there is no need to follow changes to the requirements as they evolve, as TransNet does this for you, automatically updating your system as requirements change.
