Fully integrated card processing using existing ECRs and POS Systems |
The Challenge
|
|
In the fast paced, high volume quick service restaurant(QSR) industry, operators and franchisees have several key concerns when it comes to payments:
- fast and integrated credit, debit, gift and loyalty card payment processing
- maintaining PCI compliance and protecting customer data
- keeping transaction and other costs low
- preventing theft and fraud at the point-of-sale
Most QSRs depend on either electronic cash registers (ECRs) or PC-based hospitality POS systems which include hardware and software. While these systems work well, many require a stand-alone payment terminal in order to accept credit, debit, gift or loyalty card payments. This set up has several limitations: more double entry errors, extra equipment at the countertop, and more difficulty with settlement. For restaurants using dial-based payment terminals, transactions can also be slow and costly.
Security and fraud prevention are also key concerns for restaurants. Restaurant operators are responsible for meeting PCI and PA-DSS requirements for cardholder data security, and need a simple way to maintain compliance. With competition in the industry high, restaurants also need to address the growing threat of theft and fraud at the point of sale.

The Solution
|
|
The TransNet™payment engine is designed to respond to these issues, delivering fully integrated payments using ECRs or POS systems. The TransNet payment engine application is housed on the secure POSLynx220 payment router. Benefits of this solution include:
Industry's Most Comprehensive Cardholder Data Security
- The POSLynx220 payment router acts as a 'fortress' for sensitive cardholder data, isolating it from the ECR or POS system
- Security features include field-tested firewalling, standard encryption, and PA-DSS compliance
- Helps QSR operators achieve and maintain PCI compliance with unchangeable default settings (for operations like password protection) that facilitate compliance
- Reduces need to monitor updates to cardholder data security standards, as TransNet is automatically updated when standards change
Reduces Transaction Costs and Maximizes Existing Systems
- The POSLynx220 can route transactions to any processor, resulting in lower costs through negotiation with multiple suppliers
- Transactions can be routed directly to multiple processors by card type, eliminating costly gateway fees
- There are no fees associated with changing processors or other administrative tasks
- TransNet makes use of existing ECRs and POS systems, extending their functional life and prolonging capital investment
Delivers Innovative Management Tools
- With NetVu management server, QSR operators can access transaction, device and network data on a 24/7 basis
- Tools include alerts, transaction logs and reporting and settlement data
- Alerts include network status, as well as transaction alerts designed to detect fraud and theft at the point-of-sale
- These management tools can be easily integrated with existing help desk software
- NetVu facilitates remote deployment of the POSLynx220 and TransNet
